Dear all,
In this issue, we discuss personalized experience. We already know that customer experiences once personalized at scale, can take a brand to the next level. From a report in McKinsey, we learn about the effective personalization operating model. We also feature a burgeoning personalized jeans picks business started by a miro-entrepreneur.
And, don’t forget to RSVP for our event on Jan 28th featuring Dianna Cohen, co-founder of Crown Affair, hair care products. Our editor Christina tried those products and below is her feedback! RSVP HERE.
“I absolutely love Crown Affair products. They are elevated hair products that inspire me to develop a new and much needed hair care routine. The combs are my favorites — they exude modern elegance and help me feel confident and beautiful, and help me practice daily self care.” - Christina

Personalization is Your Next Big Boost
This McKinsey articles outlines 4 D’s of operationalizing personalization:Data, Decision, Design, and Distribution. Even though it is written mostly from a big corporation’s perspective, the thinking process would still be applicable to small businesses and startups.
Did you know? A positive customer experience yields 20 percent higher customer-satisfaction rates, a 10 to 15 percent boost in sales-conversion rates, and an increase in employee engagement of 20 to 30 percent. 👖Tell us about yourself, your company, and how you got started.
The truth is that I never wanted to be an entrepreneur. But as I moved from working in financial services into the luxury retail industry, then finally transitioned into tech, I found myself unable to ignore the growing desire to create something myself that was entirely focused on adding value into women’s lives. That was the seed that eventually grew into Revelle. My goal is to make women feel beautiful in their bodies every day by helping them find clothes that actually fit — starting with the agonizing process of shopping for jeans. Women who join the Revelle community will have access to a curated list of jeans that fit their unique body shape. From there, women can give feedback on what they like and dislike to help us learn more about their personal preferences. Revelle is completely free for members.
👖How did you pivot your business in the pandemic?
We decided that conversations around body image and clothing fit were just as prevalent — if not more — than IRL ones when people were stuck at home potentially stress eating and reading mocking memes about the ‘quarantine 15’. With that in mind, Revelle was born in July of 2020, with the intent of taking our time to grow by really listening to our early members, and building the company in partnership with our fledgling community.
👖What industry trends do you foresee, and how does this impact your brand?
The fashion industry is finally starting to open its eyes to long-overdue changes that need to be made — from size inclusivity to diversity to its outdated standards of beauty. Revelle wants to be at the forefront of these changes to highlight how the industry should be listening to everyday women — not just the brands themselves — when learning how to evolve into a new era of retail and e-commerce.
👖Any other lessons/advice you’d like to share with other entrepreneurs?
I’ve found incredible value in having a network of other founders and friends who are willing to lend an ear when I’m feeling overwhelmed or on the precipice of an unanticipated change. My advice to fellow entrepreneurs would be to find that community of support within your network and never be afraid to reach out.
👖Any requests for help from our community?
As a self-funded company that launched in the midst of a lot of chaos in 2020, we’re always looking for unique ways to get the news of Revelle out into the community of women who would benefit from it most. I’m extremely passionate about getting that word out myself as the founder, and would be so grateful if anyone who is connected to a group, event, podcast, or other medium that you feel would value what we’re trying to build at Revelle would be willing to help me get my foot in the door.
